How the bumpy track is used by one 3.5 year old boy
Our 31/2 year old has been using the bumpy track for about six months now. I notice that it is one of the pieces he chooses early on to build into his tracks. It adds action and excitement to his set -- he goes off an an imaginative saga crying "watch-out, bumpy track -- oh, ah ...". Inevitabley, there is a derailment which then provides another five minutes of imaginative play to fix. The pluses of this product is that, like everything in this range, it is EXTREMELY sturdy. The lifetime guarantee means that I don't fret about it getting battered about -- it has survived some pretty rough treatment. There are only two or three pieces to it, so easy to pack away. I do find it a bit painful to tread on the sign, which often seems to get lying about!! However, the sign is an added benefit for our son because as he sets it up he announces "look -- this says -- watch out, bumpy track". So I guess he is getting some pre-reading skills here too while he's having so much fun. Dollar wise, I always wince a bit when buying one of these pieces. At first glance, it feels like I'm not getting much for my money. However, when I think about the play that my son has already gotten out of it, the fact that it will still be around for his siblings and, God willing, their children too ... I think these are value for money. Plus, they are affordable presents for aunties, uncles, granparents etc to add too at birthday's or xmas -- they are buying quality, without breaking the bank.
