Departs from Mosman Bay wharf and from Rose Bay ferry wharf in Sydney Harbour.

Session Length:

Regular trips depart the second Saturday of each month. Leaving from Cremorne Point at 6.45am and Rose bay Ferry Wharf at 7am returning to Rose Bay at approx 3pm and Cremorne Point thereafter.

Guidelines:

Passengers must be of good general health. If you suffer from seasickness, please consult with your pharmacist for the remedies available. This experience is not recommended for children under 12 years. Please BYO lunch. Tea/coffee, fruit juice and water will be provided.

Dress Code:

Warm comfortable clothes plus a water/windproof jacket for days when there is a lot of spray. A hat and sunglasses and sun protection are extremely important in the summer months. Don?t forget your camera and binoculars.

If you can only participate on a certain day, please check availability prior to booking. Rebookings require 5 working days notice. If you do not attend as booked, then there is no opportunity to reschedule. Sightings of particular animals cannot be guaranteed.

Product Description

Few people realise that there is a large oceanic park right at Sydney?s doorstep! The waters off the coast of Sydney are teeming with an abundance of seabirds and marine mammals, a variety that you will see nowhere else in the world. This wildlife cruise will take you to the continental shelf, some 25 nautical miles out to sea, where you will be able to see these wonderful animals in their own territory. You will learn more about the environmental factors that threaten their fragile existence and about what we can do to ensure their survival for years to come.
The species you may encounter vary with the season but will include members of many different families. During June and July you will get the chance to see the humpback whales on their northern migration. In September and October they will be passing Sydney on their migration south and it is not uncommon to have them swimming within metres of the boat! You may see sperm whales, false killer whales, pilot whales, dolphins, sharks, sunfish and an abundance of seabirds.
From August to December you may catch a glimpse of the endangered wandering albatross ? the largest of all seabirds with a wingspan of up to 3 metres! They can fly thousands of kilometres without pause and only need to touch land to nest and raise young. Unfortunately, this majestic species is threatened with extinction as a result of long-line fishing killing 100,000 albatrosses every year. On this cruise you will get to see these beautiful animals and learn more about their lives and what we can do to help ensure their survival.
As the day goes on our knowledgeable guides will help you identify all of the species that you encounter during the cruise. A hydrophone is available for you to use to tune into whale songs.
We are very lucky to have such a rich variety of marine life just off the coast of Sydney. Make the most of what you have around you and be one of the fortunate people to encounter such marvelous species in the wild.
